The avant-garde, conceptual artist Yoko Ono’s debut solo record album, Yoko Ono/Plastic Ono Band, was released in December 1970. Although, at the time, it was largely panned — or ignored — by critics, its exuberant jams and multi-layered sound collages went on to have considerable influence on numerous musical styles and movements of later decades.
