WELCOME TO brutjournal!
SO EXACTLY WHAT ARE WE UP TO HERE?
WELL WE’RE INTERESTED IN FORMS OF ART AND CULTURAL EXPRESSION THAT BREAK THE MOLD; THAT ARE FRESH, DIFFERENT, EXPERIMENTAL, DARING, AND DEFY FAMILIAR LABELS; AND THAT, FOR ALL THEIR INNOVATION OR FAR-OUT FORM, UNABASHEDLY CELEBRATE AND REAFFIRM THE HUMAN SPIRIT.
SOUND GOOD?
Takesada Matsutani is a former member of the influential Gutai Art Association, a group of avant-garde artists who were active in Japan from 1954 through 1972. Since the late 1960s, he has been based in Paris. He has worked in a bold abstract mode for many years, using glue and graphite, and sometimes other materials, to create sculptural, richly textured paintings. His work was most recently exhibited at Hauser & Wirth in New York.
