AN EYEFUL OF EYE-THEMED ART SHOWCASES AN ENDLESSLY ALLURING SUBJECT

As summer recently faded, the air turned cooler, and autumn set in, our thoughts began turning to corduroy trousers; pumpkin pie; bright, seasonal foliage; the gentle crunch underfoot of fallen leaves; and, with a surrealist twist — hey, why not? — eyeballs cascading in torrents from the sky, playing peekaboo in dreamy compositions, peering out from mysterious faces, or otherwise seducing us with their steady, irresistible gaze.

Out went a call to artists to reach out to other artists, and in came a haul of unusual, eye-bedecked artworks in response to our “Eyes on October” theme (which might have been inspired by the fact that a certain member of brutjournal’s editorial staff, in need of a new pair of eyeglasses, recently visited an ophthalmologist for a long-overdue vision test).
